We begin as a classic, basic millennial story...a dating app. I don't think Shakespeare would be proud of our Meet-cute, nevertheless it is what brought us together so credit to Bumble (guess dating apps do work sometimes). We both had a fair share of dates and similar experiences, that we could write a book about, but besides being from opposite ends of London we matched as Roshni's new job based in East Central, which connected our profiles.
Krishan was recovering from his deviated septum surgery (*coughs* nose job), and it meant we couldn't meet up straight away. So, we ended up talking for a longggggggg time. Roshni suggested we do not send photos of each other until we meet. For the 'talking period' we did not see any more photos than the 5 on our profile. We just focused on chatting which led to phone calls that lasted hours. So many hours. Everyday.
We can both agree that at that time we knew this was the start of something special.
Our first date - After work hours
It was winter, depressing, freezing and Roshni caught a cold. We are so keen to meet up that we initially decided on the weekend, giving her time to recover. Krishan was still on the mend from surgery so you could say we were both at our worst state (not ideal for a first meeting with your future spouse) but Roshni had to come to the office, so we decided just to meet for a simple drink after work.
Let's say things didn't go according to plan. We arrived in separate locations in Liverpool St and Roshni broke his umbrella in the first 5 seconds. Despite all that we agreed on a second date.
Second date - We made it official
We met up at Waterloo Station, and Roshni had been waiting for quite some time (there's a recurring theme here) - a lot of waiting happened at the early stages but she knew it was worth the wait. We decided to wander around as the Christmas markets were open. After some time of walking around aimlessly, examining stalls that seem to be in competition with one another to sell the world's most useless items, we finally made our way to an Italian restaurant in Covent Garden for a late lunch, and voila, this is where we decided to make our relationship official.
Third date - IKEA and Tesco
Who says you can't have a romantic date to IKEA followed by Tesco? If anything, it's more romantic because it's like foreshadowing a future filled with grocery shops and discounted furniture assembly challenges.
Some say we progressed our relationship fast, which is true, our story has been a super-speed roller coaster but all that meant sense to us, and finally understood when Harry told Sally that....
"When you realise you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible." - When Harry Met Sally
